Exclusive “Go Cyling!” package in GOLD grid

Tourist package 3 days – 2 nights

Founded in 1907, it is one of the world’s longest running road cycling races and holds the absolute record for the length of the course. During the 100 years of the race the route has changed slightly, with the inclusion of some climbs that have become part of the history of cycling: the Turchino, which separates the Po Valley from the Ligurian Riviera, was joined by the Poggio di Sanremo in 1960, the Cipressa in 1982 and the Manie in 2008.

The Granfondo Milano – Sanremo is an amateur cycling event that takes place in June and covers the same roads as the professional Milano – Sanremo.

Born in 1970, the Granfondo Milano – Sanremo, starts from the congress centre of Milanofiori, then it takes the Pavese state road until it reaches the foot of the Apennines, to try the Turchino climb and go down to see the sea near Genoa. From here, the route continues along the Aurelia state road towards the west, with the significant and demanding detours of Cipressa and Poggio di Sanremo, until the finish line in Corso Garibaldi in Sanremo, at the Palafiori congress centre.

The only differences with the professional race are the location of the start and finish line and the Manie climb, which is not run. However, all the flavour remains of competing on all the historic stretches of the race: climbing up to the Turchino and from there tackling the descent with the backdrop of the Ligurian Sea, then riding along the entire Riviera di Ponente through the seaside resorts of the coast, squeezed between sea and mountains, and then tackling the Cipressa and the Poggio, where so many times the great breakaways were born.

The audience of cyclists who take on the Granfondo Milano – Sanremo is very diversified, with on the one hand those who love the real challenges, who cover the approx. 300 km from Milan to Sanremo in less than 8 hours, and on the other hand those who interpret the event with the spirit of the pure cycle-tourist, even giving up the timing chip.
